Did They Say Kenny Rogers???

I thought tonight's show was very entertaining, including the actual competitors.

I thought the Kenny Rogers impersonator was excellent --- had Kenny's voice down, and looked a lot like him, too!! Really, it was a little spooky hearing his voice come out of a face that looks a little scary and isn't even his anymore. . . he's become a poster child for an episode of Plastic Surgery Gone Wrong.

I'm afraid next week's competition might be pre-empted so they can do an intervention for Paula --- what is she on??? If not an intervention, maybe they can strap her in her chair so she can at least stay upright!! Oh, and when they give the 2-minutes til showtime warning, can someone bring Paula some very strong, very black coffee??? She's gone beyond entertaining and is now sliding into "just plain sad" territory.

I have a suggestion for next year --- why don't they can the country episode altogether? It's clear that Simon is totally unable to judge a genre that he "doesn't care for", so let's avoid an entire episode of Simon pouting because he doesn't like the music.

Okay, on to the real show!

I really enjoyed Taylor's performance. It was refreshing to see him just sing a song. . . no Joe Cocker, no Stevie Wonder antics. . . just Taylor. It was kind of nice. But Alyssa, I'm not sure I see the resemblance to Stuart that you see.

I feel like Chandler --- Mandisa's outfit --- so many things to say. But, I won't dwell on the obvious "horizontal stripes on a big gal" thing tonight. If she hadn't struggled so much with her song and given such a weak performance I'd be all over her wardrobe choice. I feel badly for her that she did so poorly, so I won't kick her while she's down.

One word for Elliott -- wow! His voice was so pure tonight. I didn't see nervousness like Simon did, I heard a vulnerability in his voice tonight. Good job! Keep it up and you could be in the final five.

Paris tried, but she couldn't make me believe that she enjoyed singing country at all. Her heart just wasn't in her performance. Try as she might to make us feel something, she was wanting to get it over and just going through the motions.

I liked Ace's rendition. It was all Ace, no goo-goo eyes into the camera, just a heartfelt performance tonight.

Unfortunately for Kellie Mae, she couldn't reach the low notes and may as well have been singing in Arabic, because I didn't understand a word of what she sang.

I have another "wow" for Chris --- he moved away from his powerhouse singing and showed a softer side tonight.

Someone told me he thought Katherine might pull out a big performance tonight, and he was right!! Simon hated it --- I thought it was fabulous. She was so comfortable onstage and had all the confidence in the world. . . and rightly so.

And, surprise, surprise, I'm cutting Bucky some slack tonight --- I didn't hate his performance. . . again. I'm not a Bucky convert, never will be, I'm convinced he won't make it another three weeks, but tonight he was not horrible.

Okay, so my picks for the bottom three tomorrow: Mandisa, Paris and Kellie. (I know, I know --- not Bucky?) and my choice would be to send Kellie home.

But I think most of American thinks Kellie is adorable (unlike my own opinion of her --- can you hear me gagging??), so it's likely that Ace could be in the bottom three tomorrow night instead of Kellie and he may be sent home, which will be a shame.

OMG we were wondering the same thing, "Is that supposed to be Kenny?"

After the first 5 minutes of the show my 9 year old daughter looked at me and asked if Paula was drunk! I pretty much ignore Paula anyway so I really hadn't noticed until then.

This week I found myself agreeing with Simon more than ever before. I like most Country music, unlike Simon, but I thought his opinions were pretty much on target. This is scarey.

No comment on the first three.
Thought that Simon was right about Paris, she did reminded me of Dionne Warwick. It was nice.

Ah Kelly, she managed to emulate the one female Country singer that makes me tune into another station (well two if you count Shania). But, am I the only one that noticed the Bay Watch swimsuit she was wearing with her jeans? She will be there for weeks to come.

Also, never been much of a Keith Urban fan, but, I actually liked Aces performance. Just might be one of the first that I have enjoyed by him. Sortta missed the dreamy eyed camera stare, NOT. LOL

Kept waiting for Chris to "cut loose" and rock the stage. Never been a secret that he is my favorite so he could just sit and sing Keith Urban and I'd be happy, hmmm.

Really didn't like Katherine's song choice , but man can she take charge when she needs to.

Bucky, Bucky, Bucky...really liked the Bucky show tonight. Just waiting for him to get the gate so we can take him out for a few beers. I like the guy, not going to be American Idol winner, but I really like the guy.

No way will Kelly be in the bottom pick. My personal choice for the three would be Taylor, Mandisa, Paris.
I'm betting America will pick Mandisa, Katherine and Ace. We'll find out in 12 hours.

Why do these "stars" think plastic surgery makes them look better???? I've always been a Kenny Rogers fan, but now I don't like to look at him. I agree that something is "up" with Paula. And I think Randy is losing it. Also they should leave out country music only because Simon doesn't like it. Hey, Mark, I found myself agreeing with Simon too lately!!!
Mandissa has to go, Elliot wasn't so great, I saw the nervousness, Katherine has to be in the bottom three too.I thought Paris did a great job with that song. She hit the high notes that Trisha and LeeAnn did not hit. Can't wait for tonight.

Well my comment is not about the show and the singing.... I have to say we need to have some way of voting off the stylists that are dressing these poor people!Arent they helped by fashion stylists at this point in competition??

Come on now...agreeing with my aunt about the horizontal stripes and I will say it even though she wasn't "all over her wardrobe choice". We all know that if you are a larger woman you do not wear horizontal stripes no matter what anyone says they just make you look wider! Or your boobs which are already enormous look even more gigantic... not to mention your hips are going to look gigantic as well! Who ever dressed poor Mandisa should be fired!

Next clothing comment... Back in the 80s I was... I was gonna say young but I was only born in '85 so here goes what I remember from Saved by the Bell re-runs.... Tappered pants do NOT look good on any body type. It doesn't matter if they sell them in popular clothing stores such as Express. Kelly wearing those tapered black jeans made her look like an ice cream cone!

I hate to say it but I think that American Idol needs a style intervention from Stacey and Clinton...

Today someone in my office described poor Mandisa as looking like a "Christmas Tree Gone Bad".. the visual on that is a little much. Somehow I see blinking lights and a shiny star on top.. but.. the point was well taken. Is there a full length mirror in the green room?

Kenny's got a new album out, so does he think he has to cut and paste to find a following with the masses these days? What happened to the round cheeked santa claus look alike? He seems to have trimmed down, and trimmed OFF a few things.

Glad I'm not the only one that felt like the sniping among the judges and the hosts has gotten out of control. I keep waiting for Paula to leap over the judges table and jump ace on the stage. Dang. I thought this was a singing competition.

So, Peggy, does it feel like it's going to be a long 8 weeks 'til we get through this? I'm gonna be down right snarky if it keeps up. !

Do we actually have ANYONE that fits the "American Idol" this year??????
Maybe next year they should regroup and ask for "real" talent to audition.
I think the judges should look at themselves and see how ridiculous they act. Paula is really getting on my nerves. At least Simon tells the truth, even if it does sound mean. He just has no tact.
Oh well.
