Springtime and Paris. . .

I can't say that I was shocked at all by the results show. . . I knew Elliott and Paris would be in the bottom two and I knew in my heart that Paris would be going home. But, she can rest easy --- not one of the guest artists have had anything but the highest praises for her. If she didn't walk backstage and sign a contract being held by Stevie Wonder, I'd be surprised. I'm guessing Paris' CD could be ready for release before the new Idol's.

Other than making us sit through that horrible group performance (this is not "Making the Band" this is AI) and again through another hokey commercial (although Taylor with spiked hair was a humorous sight) the results were given out somewhat mercifully.

Taylor - safe, Chris - safe, Paris - step out on stage, you're in the bottom two, now sing. And, like the consummate professional she is, she did, and maybe because she knew she had nothing to lose her performance was even better than the night before!! Although Elliott was very nervous and Kat looked like she was going to barf, Elliott was called out to stand with Paris (which is when you can see what a tiny, tiny guy he really is). Ryan Seacrest must love Elliott, one of the only people on the planet who makes Ryan look tall.

So, no surprise when they tell Paris she's going home. And, once again she sings another great song with the weight of all that judging finally off her shoulders. She knows she's going places, and she probably got a great night's sleep last night!

Now, y'all know I want Elliott to stay, but he needs to make an emotional connection to the American public and STOP making comments about pools of sweat. I think right now it's up in the air who will go home next. Elliott doesn't seem to have the fan base but seems to gain confidence every week. Kat, on the other hand, is showing signs of breaking under the pressure. Chris and Taylor have no worries, although Taylor has an air of humility about him and Chris is beginning to wear on me with that smug expression. He seems to forget that HE has been in the bottom three and Taylor has not.

I'll go out on a limb here and predict now that either Kat or Elliott will be next to leave --- Kat if her nerves get the best of her again. Elliott has the ability to shake off the negative comments, maybe because he's faced so much in his life. I'm not sure Kat has ever had to go through those kinds of experiences. And, whereas a few weeks ago I was positive Chris would go all the way, I'm not too sure anymore. Like I said, I think people may begin to question his versatility, the strength of his voice and might be put off by his attitude. Taylor could go all the way. We shall see.

Seriously hoping that the trip to Graceland is somehow a connection (in name only) to Paul Simon and not Elvis.

Just watching some old episodes and I think I want Kellie back. I enjoyed the show more when she was on....as the song says, there was always "something to talk about"

I have to agree, Mark. Barring a real wardrobe malfunction, or an on-stage melt-down I don't see much excitement coming in the next three weeks. Even if Taylor overcomes Chris and wins out I won't be surprised.

Don't forget that this is my first ever Idol season. So, being the new kid on the block, I still have lots of "gee whiz" moments.

I really enjoyed the kookie auditions and characters. I liked the "final 12". We seemed to have lots more to discuss then. Now I see four nervous, tired, burned out "kids" that just want it to end as bad as I do.

I will tune in to the end and quite likely watch another season, but these last 2 weeks have been a let down. I have to ask you vets , "Is this normal"?

i did a search of the shaggy/shabby dress issue and found that since the Otis Redding version of "tenderness" most soul singers now say shaggy rather than shabby dress-wise. It's actually stated as the lyric on many versions. Somehow it made me feel better. Taylor won regardless, which is the desired outcome!
